On Friday 8th September, Nationwide Fire Sprinklers were invited by our good friends at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to attend a royal visit. His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex attended the service Headquarters near Stone to open the Villa Training Centre – a challenging multi-room environment designed to simulate dangerous fire scenarios.
The Earl and local dignitaries, including Stafford Borough Mayor Aidan Godfrey, were given a tour of the new three-storey facility, which can be used to recreate real-life emergencies that crews could be presented with.
The visitors were also given a demonstration of a working sprinkler system, similar in type to the kind that Staffordshire Fire Service aims to install in every residential building that is more than five storeys high in the county within the next decade.
Stuart Ruckledge, Staffordshire FRS, Fire Engineer and our own Damian Rhodes, Senior Engineer both answered questions directly from the Prince who showed a keen interest in the demonstration.
Our special thanks to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Chief Fire Officer Becci Bryant and Stuart Ruckledge for the opportunity to once again work together in helping to demonstrate the value of automatic fire systems.
